Ashgabat, 4 February 2026 – From 2 to 4 February 2026, a three-day training took place at the UN Building focused on pregnancy management for women with tuberculosis (TB) and coordination with phthisiology services. The event, organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Turkmenistan, aimed to strengthen the capacity of medical specialists and improve interdepartmental cooperation.

The training was attended by specialists from the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, representatives of the State Medical University named after Myrat Garryev, obstetrician-gynecologists, reproductive health experts, and phthisiologists from Ashgabat, Arkadag city, and all regions (velayats) of the country, as well as doctors from the velayat Maternal and Child Health Centers and primary health care facilities.

During the sessions, participants studied international protocols for TB diagnosis and treatment in pregnant women, including delivery tactics, the use of modern anti-TB medications, and breastfeeding protocols. The application of these clinical standards and coordination mechanisms between obstetric-gynecological and phthisiology services is aimed at standardizing specialized medical care and improving maternal and child health outcomes at national and regional levels.
