In an interview with the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper, Bayramgul Garabayeva, UNFPA Assistant Representative in Turkmenistan commented on adoption of the National Plan of Action on Human Rights in Turkmenistan for 2016-2020

UNFPA, United Nations Population Fund participated at the official launch of the National Action Plan 2016-2020, organized by the United Nations Development Programme and the National Institute of Democracy and Human Rights under the President of Turkmenistan. 

The National Action Plan was approved by the President of Turkmenistan on 15 January 2016. The purpose of the document is to improve the performance of the national bodies and public organizations of Turkmenistan in the protection and promotion of human rights and freedoms.

Bayramgul Garabayeva, UNFPA Assistant Representative in Turkmenistan commented on adoption of the National Plan of Action on Human Rights in Turkmenistan for 2016-2020:

National Plan of Action on Human Rights is a framework document, a platform for guiding state policy in the area of human rights.

UNFPA is a long-standing partner of the Government and we attach great importance to the adopted document.  United Nations Population Fund supports Turkmenistan in promoting gender equality and realization of the youth policy.  As a result of our joint work, the National Action Plan on Gender Equality for Turkmenistan and the Law on State Youth Policy were adopted , as well as the models and mechanisms for implementation of these documents.  UNFPA will continue to provide effective support to Turkmenistan in the further promotion of international standards in the area of human rights.  The National Action Plan on Human Rights will strengthen our strategic partnership and reinforce the contribution to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.// “Neutral Turkmenistan“ newspaper.
