UNFPA, United Nations Population Fund will join efforts with the EU-funded project "Support for public administration capacity building in Turkmenistan" to further improve the institutional capacity of the Academy of State Service, advance and enrich the curricula, streamline the combination of conventional methods of teaching and innovative solutions such as e-learning, distance learning, webinars and the use of IT technologies.

In a meeting with Mr. Eduard Zaharchenko and Mr. Miroslav Giembicki from the EU project side, the next actions were identified and discussed for the benefit of the Academy and areas of joint work.

UNFPA is one of the lead development partners of the Academy for the last eight years. The joint project of UNFPA and the Academy started back in 2010 focusing on promoting demographic projections and gender equality topics through the Academy’s coursework. The partnership also included exposing the Academy students and faculty members to best international practices through short-term intensive courses by the international experts, procurement of equipment to strengthen the technical base of the Academy, development of courses for to-be-offered-soon master's programme, introduction of distance learning applications, among other areas.

Ms. Bayramgul Garabayeva UNFPA Assistant Representative in Turkmenistan noted that “This type of joint work helps greatly in maximizing the impact of development actions. The Academy is one of the traditional partners of UNFPA in Turkmenistan. Since its establishment, the Academy puts substantial efforts in improving the quality of education it provides to civil servants. UNFPA is proud for being next to the Academy and providing necessary technical support."
