Fun-packed youth campaign was held in one of the busiest parks of the city in support of healthy lifestyle and youth participation.

“We choose Healthy Lifestyle” was the slogan of the campaign, which attracted hundreds of young people, their younger siblings and parents in a mini-football game, chess and board games, origami, sports activities, mini-sessions and quizzes on health and lifestyle, and upbeat flash mob.  The campaign was led by Y-PEER, youth peer network volunteers in Turkmenistan with support of UNFPA, United Nations Population Fund, Football Federation of Turkmenistan and Coca-Cola Company in Turkmenistan.

In her opening speech, Ms. Bayramgul Garabayeva, UNFPA Assistant Representative, talked about the importance of leading healthy lifestyle for adolescents and young people today in order to have healthy and happy families tomorrow.

Mini-football games were also held during the campaign.  Football teams included young people from the capital, including girls and young men with disabilities.

During the mini-football game, on the main square of the park Y-PEER volunteers sparked the activity among youth and their parents through other types of sport and art games, including origami, tug-of-war, chess and checkers, various quiz sessions and interactive games.

The games were only interrupted for a short but very impactful silent skit, presented by Y-PEER volunteers on adolescent pregnancy and prevention of bad habits.  Throughout the campaign, young people actively left their "health" messages on the wall with a slogan "Young people are for Healthy Lifestyle!"

The highlight of the youth campaign dedicated to the International Youth Day was the flash mob at the end, where all Y-PEER volunteers danced to the favorite tunes and were joined by most of the youth in the crowd who were inspired to lead healthy and responsible lifestyle.
