The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Turkmenistan, initiated the Assessment of the status and progress of UNFPA prioritized indicators under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Globally, UNFPA has identified 19 SDG indicators as core to the implementation of its mandate and the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD). The prioritized indicators are under the SDGs 3, 5, 10, 11, 13, 16 and 17. Out of 19 indicators UNFPA has prioritized for itself globally, Turkmenistan adopted 17. UNFPA is responsible for methodological aspects and assisting countries in collecting, analyzing, and disseminating relevant data.
The Assessment provides a review of the status of 17 indicators in terms of implementation, data availability, and methodologies applied in line with global metadata. The priority indicators are to demonstrate the country's progress in the areas of reproductive health, gender equality, reducing inequalities, climate change, building peaceful and inclusive societies, and ensuring quality population data for sustainable development.
