As part of the project on “Promotion of gender-transformative approach to support women experiencing violence and engage men in the advancement of gender equality in communities” funded by the British Embassy in Turkmenistan, in cooperation with the State Committee of Turkmenistan on Physical Culture and Sports, UNFPA has launched an initiative to engage men in the  advancement of gender equality in three pilot communities: Ashgabat city, Mary and Lebap velayats. The initiative will be piloted in cooperation with the sports schools and CSOs “Keyik okara” in Ashgabat city, “Mashgala”, Mary velayat and “Taze Zaman” in Lebap velayat. On February 20-24, 2023, UNFPA conducted 5-day training for young athletes nominated and selected to become volunteers to implement the initiative. The training participants included 45 young athletes and their coordinators, representatives of the mentioned CSOs and sports schools.
