The theme of this year's International Youth Day, on 12 August 2014, is “Mental Health Matters.”

Fun-packed youth campaign was held in one of the busiest parks of the city in support of healthy lifestyle and youth participation.

A new UNFPA factsheet provides an overview of the key issues of concern regarding young people across Eastern Europe and Central Asia, while a new brochure focusing on the Commonwealth of Independent States offers a statistical portrait of youth in that region.

ASHGABAT – Training for trainers was conducted by the Y-PEER master-trainers and volunteers in Ashgabat among more than twenty teenagers to expand the pool of young leaders, who are interested in promoting healthy lifestyle through peer education.

The President of Turkmenistan H.E. Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin, UN Under-Secretary-General and UNFPA Executive Director

The meeting with Turkmen youth was held at the Youth Organization of Turkmenistan named after Magtymguly. 

The youth presented the highlights of their work in Turkmenistan within the framework of the Y-PEER youth centers that were launched in the capital and Mary city jointly by the Youth Organization and UNFPA. 

New opportunities for cooperation, particularly in the areas of reproductive health and investments in youth, were on the agenda during UNFPA Executive Director Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin’s recent official visit to Turkmenistan.

UNFPA-supported Y-PEER volunteers joined the International Family Day 2016, which was celebrated with the theme “Good health and well-being starts in families.”
