Ashgabat, Turkmenistan – Ms. Mieko Yabuta, UNFPA Country Director for Turkmenistan made an official visit to Turkmenistan from 1 – 5 March 2017 to participate at the series of events devoted to the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s membership in the United Nations.  Holding high-level meetings with the Government of Turkmenistan to reconfirm the UNFPA’s commitment to support the Government reforms in the areas of women and adolescent reproductive health and rights, gender equality and population and development was also on the agenda of the visit.

UNFPA Photo exhibition “Following my dream – How our future depends on a girl at this decisive age”

UNFPA Photo exhibition entitled "10: How our future depends on a girl at this decisive age" was held at the National Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat in December 2016.

The Photo exhibition featured many faces and individual stories of girls from many parts of Turkmenistan and around the world, as well as their dreams and aspirations.

The Vernissage of the Photo exhibition followed the Report Launch, featuring the teenage girls from all parts of Turkmenistan, their dreams and aspirations.

Advanced practices in youth policy implementation and engendering legislation were presented by the participants of the UNFPA, United Nations Population Fund supported study visits to Germany and Armenia at the round-table in Mejlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan.

During the round-table the representatives of Mejlis of Turkmenistan discussed the results of the meetings held during the study tours and the possibility of replicating the experience of the visited countries.
