A new innovative boardgame on youth healthy living will be introduced in secondary schools of Turkmenistan.  The “Gorelde bol!” (Be a role model!) boardgame featuring adolescent reproductive health issues was developed by UNFPA, United Nations Population Fund and sponsored by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. 

The boardgame will help school students in Turkmenistan to learn about reproductive health and gender equality and equip them with life skills to make responsible health decisions through play. 

International Day of Families celebration was a blast with one of the most inclusive mini-marathons organized in the capital.  The morning of sports events was organized by UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and International Organization for Migration. The Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan, the Football Federation of Turkmenistan and Sports Club of People with Disabilities of Turkmenistan were the partners of the celebration.

Spring is the air and that is another reason to celebrate volunteerism.  Y-PEER activists took a break from their regular mini-sessions on healthy living and got out of the Youth centers into the nature. 

UNFPA Country Director for Turkmenistan Ms. Giullia Vallese visited Turkmenistan this week.  The purpose of the visit was to reconfirm the UNFPA’s commitment to support the Government reforms in the areas of women and adolescent reproductive health and rights, gender equality and population and development.  This is the first visit of Ms. Vallese, newly appointed UNFPA Country Director to Turkmenistan.

UNFPA, United Nations Population Fund and the Government partners have discussed priorities of partnership at the Programme Review Meeting today.  More than 50 representatives of the ministries and departments of the Government of Turkmenistan, UN agencies, development partners and public organizations gathered to conduct a midterm review of the joint Country Programme Action Plan for 2016-2020 and establish the priorities until the end of the Programme.

International Volunteer Day was marked today at the Peer Education Youth Center in Ashgabat.  More than 30 Y-PEER volunteers have celebrated the day at the Youth Center at the Palace of children and adolescents together with the representatives of UNFPA, United Nations Population Fund, Ministry of Education and administration of the Palace.

Good practices in delivering reproductive health education to adolescents were presented at the round-table by the participants of study visit to Malaysia, organized by the UNFPA, United Nations Population Fund in November 2017.  The study visit was co-financed by the Government of Turkmenistan.
